Vintage and harder to find - Daniel Mann's Impossible Dictionary Test
Effect:  Mentalist holds out a card listing the letters of the alphabet and requests the volunteer to think of any one letter.  The volunteer is then handed a dictionary and selects a word beginning with his thought of letter.  The word is written down and held by volunteer.  Through seemingly impossible odds and intense concentration, the mentalist correctly guesses the letter and selected word.
This routine comes from the estate of a home magician.  Some handwritten notes on instructions from original owner.
